What are the common categories of smart watches

2024-07-27

Smartwatches have become a significant part of our daily lives, and the number of users wearing smartwatches is steadily increasing. But do you know the different categories of smartwatches?

Full Touchscreen Smartwatch: As the name suggests, the entire watch face is a large LCD touchscreen. The watch face and hands (not real hands) are displayed virtually. This type of smartwatch focuses heavily on features such as heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, message notifications, Bluetooth calling, NFC offline payments, and more. However, it essentially functions as an electronic watch and is quite different from traditional mechanical or quartz watches.

“Big Fitness Tracker” Smartwatch: Although it offers more features than a fitness tracker, it cannot download apps and has limited versatility. Its advantage lies in its long battery life, typically lasting over two weeks or even exceeding 20 days.

Light Smartwatch: These smartwatches have a physical watch face with hands and a small LCD screen in the “corners” to display some basic parameters. They have limited functionality, and the small touchscreen can be challenging to use. The advantage is that they resemble traditional watches and have extended battery life due to their limited features.

Full-Featured Smartwatch: These smartwatches can independently install apps and connect to the internet, offering powerful functionality. However, they often have poor battery life and typically require daily charging.

Perforated Screen Smartwatch: This design combines a large touchscreen with physical watch hands by incorporating a small hole in the center of the touchscreen. The advantage is that it combines the appearance of a traditional watch, with extended battery life similar to light smartwatches, and robust smart features.

In summary, smartwatches come in various categories, each with its own set of features and advantages, catering to different user preferences and needs.
